Personal Financial Readiness (PFR)

The mission of the Personal Financial Readiness Program is to provide quality financial education, information, and counseling to equip our Forces to address current personal financial situations, maximize financial resources, and effectively handle financial challenges that may arise throughout the Military lifecycle.  Our vast array of services are offered to all DoD ID Cardholders (Active, Guard, and Reserve Military, Retired Military, DoD Civilians, Veterans, Contractors, and their Families).




Per DoDI 1344.07/DAFI 36-2925, para  6.7.1 and 6.7.1.1: The Military and Family Readiness Center is the base level office of primary responsibility (OPR) for financial education on Air Force installations.   Under no circumstances shall commercial agents, including representatives of loan, finance, insurance, or investment companies, be used for this purpose.  

Individual Personal Financial Counseling

Individual Personal Financial Counseling for a wide variety of circumstances to include:
  • developing a personal budget
  • credit and debt management strategies
  • understanding your credit report
  • estate planning
  • home/car buying
  • investing in the TSP
  • and much more!

Financial Readiness Training

Financial Readiness Touchpoint Training is 

prescribed by DOD and AF guidelines to provide relevant financial education across the continuum of a Military Member’s career.  Group or individual classes are available for:

  • First Duty Station Training
  • Vesting in the Thrift Savings Plan
  • BRS Continuation Pay
  • PCS/Transition
  • Pre- and Post- Deployment
  • Marriage/Divorce
  • Birth of First Child
  • Disabling Sickness or Condition
  • Promotion

Personal Financial Readiness Touchpoints

Emergency Financial Assistance

Emergency Financial Assistance is available to Active Duty and Retired Service Members of all military branches through the applicable relief society (i.e. Air Force Aid Society (also Air Force Reserve/National Guard), Army Emergency Relief, Navy Marine Corps Relief, etc.).  For more information, check out the M&FRC Air Force Aid Society information page.

Financial Education

Financial Education via both individual and group classes is available for topics ranging from basic budgeting to saving and investing, and all things in-between.  The Scott AFB M&FRC upcoming financial readiness classes can be found below.  To coordinate a group financial education briefing or a financial readiness overview, please contact the Personal Financial Readiness Program at (618) 256-8668.
